Seeking Career Advice (Central banker)

Hello,

I am a central banker with a PhD specialising in time-series econometrics.
I have 5 years experience at a major European central bank, including advising policy makers at the most senior levels.

What I enjoy most about my current role is programming time-series models, in particular in Matlab.

So I was thinking to switch to the other side (HFs, AMs) and was wondering if my background, given my extensive experience in applied stats/econometrics was suitable for Quant positions?

any advice would be very helpful.
