Considering the lack of coding skills, I wonder whether it works if I apply for some other CS programs then still try to find QR positions?
And I am also interested in ML application, should I still focus on MFE application? I am afraid so-called target school/program for some prop shop or hf.

Brief background: undergraduate major in Engineering but not enough CS courses, just took PYTHON, Data Structure, C++

Take the QN courses, no need to work in another profession for a couple years. While it isn't the most common case, these two courses (almost on their own) got a guy a job as a quant dev. From those I've talked to in MFE's, they are more than you need for most internships and most of the job. You'll find some niche stuff on the job, as always, and the field will evolve, but you'll be largely prepared for it.
