I'm having trouble deciding between these two master's programs. As a somewhat older student with a bachelor's degree in an unrelated field (read: humanities), my main concern is employment after graduation. From what I've read Stony Brook has a reasonable reputation and desirable proximity to NYC, but I'm afraid that the abundance of other, better schools in the area might overshadow these advantages. NCSU appears to be a much smaller program, offering better chances to connect with faculty, but is at best haphazardly connected to the Raleigh-Durham Research Triangle and related institutions. I am not wedded to working within a specific market. Which program will optimize my marketability?
