I was waitlisted for UCB MFE and required to take CFA level I but then the deadline to sign up for June exam has passed!? So does that mean next year I do not have to submit application again and only submit the CFA and pre MFA courses? Anyone in the same boat, please advice, thanks!

cfa may be just a suggestion from them. if you take level I exam in June 2nd you will not see the result until late July.
and the exam generally requires a long term preparation(300 hrs purportedly). if you are from finance major it might be
easier to get ready.

everyone has the same suggestion letter so I do not think that passing CFA level I will automatically mean admission

Did you had a second interview? Have you talked with the ad comitee??

I am somewhat confused too. It seems like quite a few people this year got their applications put on hold.
But then there are people who got an interview but was rejected, then there are people like me, who didn't even have an interview but was put on hold?
I am not sure what the ad committee is planning...
