I will be applying to UK FinMath MSc’s for a 2025 start. This includes Imperial and Oxford’s courses, as well as Warwick and LSE (all FinMath). For UCL, I will be applying to their Computational Finance MSc as a form of diversification given I do not come from a pure maths background. I wanted to get information on precisely how mathematically/theoretically rigorous the MSc is. I am aware it has a strong computational aspect, that would hopefully aid in landing a buy side quant trading type role in the future, but wanted to get clarity on how mathematically intensive it is. I would like it to hopefully be quite rigorous as if I am not able to get Imperial/Oxford MSc, I am hoping to eventually do a PhD in their mathematical finance areas, and I am hoping the UCL Computational Finance MSc would be mathematically rigorous enough for me to be considered. Would appreciate if anyone has any thoughts on this, particularly those who have studied the MSc.
