Hi!
Im studying applied mathematics with a specialisation in economics. Recently, I have been searching for a Master degree in quant fin, stat, risk management in Europe. I’ve narrowed down my choices to imperial stat (stat finance), imperial math and finance, LSE stat (stat finance) and LSE quant methods for risk management.
Im not looking for a real quant role, I want something that doesn’t require heavy programming. This is because I think I don’t hardcore programming very much, I had 1 course about C++ in my degree and even though I did well I didn’t really enjoy it. I believe I would enjoy more roles with softer programming (in R , SQL, python), less abstract. This fear of not enjoying programming is what makes me reluctant with the math and fin imperial program (it has a C++ module), I think this masters will lead me to careers that I wouldn’t enjoy, but I’m not sure if it is not worth it to try this program because it opens so many possibilities for future careers and I maybe I’ll discover something that I enjoy more.
With that being said, right now I’m really interested in risk management, I think I would really like the lse QMRM master and it suits me very well, however Im afraid it will narrow my future career options and then If I want to something else more quanty I can’t.
The other 2 stats programs are really similar , with the imperial one being a little more mathematically rigorous and the lse one having better elective choices.
I would really love to ear your opinions and thoughts about what I wrote (if you have any program suggestion let me know).
P.S- I’m not looking to work in the uk, at least right now. My intentions are to work in Portugal.
