I currently work in Market risk for an european bank mainly focusing of commodities. Due to the recent layoffs, I may have to accept a role in Valuation group with the same bank. It will initially focus on commodities and may include credit & interest rates in future.
I want to know the career prospects after spending some time in Valuation group at IB. The role is quantitative in nature but it's not a full on quant role. My long term plan is to be on buy side quant research.
Any advice is much appreciated.
PS: because of the visa issues, I don't have the liberty to wait and find an ideal job.
