Hi all,

I've seen this subject brought up from time to time, but I'm going to ask for an status update anyway:
Is an MS in math finance, MFE, or any similar master's degree a good idea at this point?

I'm starting an MSMF at BU soon, but there's talk about the quant field shrinking and too many people trying to jump into it at the present. If all of that is true, I worry about those huge loans that'll have to be paid off.

So what are your thoughts? Does the outlook change for native English speakers?

Thanks in advance for any halp

It's close to the point of no return and there is zero chance of you dropping of this plan and doing something else, isn't it?
There is always risk in doing this kind of degree, more so now than ever. That said, if you have a realistic expectation and right approach, you will find employment and probably have a successful career.
Keep your options open to new career options, follow the news, pick up on relevant technical skills and domain knowledge will surely help.
