Does an applicant’s country of origin influence the likelihood of getting a U.S. student visa for a master’s program ?

It depends on whether your country is on the list of US State Dept of high probability of overstayed student visa. It's just one of the many factors that they consider when you apply for F1 visa.

I'm from France so I don't think it's gonna be problem, I mean I hope so. Also I was granted a F1 visa to study my final year of High School in the US 3 years ago.
