Portfolio MANAGING*, sorry. What is it, why are they paid so much, and who does it? Is it similar to being a quant?

It's a portfolio manager position which simply means you manage a portfolio of various products, positions and trade/hedge to make good alpha i.e return above the risk free rate.
You get paid a percentage of your return and the size of the portfolio is in the million of dollars. You do the math and can see they can get paid in the millions.

Well that certainly is financially appealing.
Is it similar to being a quant, only with more experience and a good track record?
Btw thank you for again answering a question so quickly
