Work before Masters?

Hey all,

I have been wondering lately if getting some job experience in some sort of data analysis position right after graduation would be an asset before applying to graduate quant programs a little later on? I am thinking that it would be nice to go straight to masters after undergrad because all the complex math wouldn't fade, but at the same time maybe earning a little money first and getting some hands-on experience seems like it would be helpful — and may help in case I'm interested in going into a more general MBA-type degree.

Experience is very important for MBA programs. It is not "as" important for MFE.

If you can land a decent job and you are interesting in obtaining an MBA, take the job!

Hey guys what suggestion would be for someone who is determined to go for MFE? Is it very important to get job such as financial analyst, because undergraduate normally doesn't seem to land in quantitative finance ( correct me if I am wrong).

Having work experience is a plus, however it is not absolutely necessary.

I recently read in a Baruch Q&A chat, 30% of students in the program have no full time work experience.

...but masters students without work experience are less interesting to employers.
