Hi there, I am about to start a job in London on the floor of an oil major. Currently they are in the process of obtaining work authorization for me. All of this is done by an external consultancy company (think Accenture, PWC). I just talked to the guy driving the process and he told me that my work permit went through and currently they are waiting for the accession worker card to get approved by the home office. The whole thing is apparently separated into two parts, since I have not been a student in the UK for at least 3 years. Anyhow.. I was wondering whether any of you have been in the same boat before and if yes, what could I expect in terms of processing times for the accession card. Do you think it can come by mid September ? I know usually processing times are around 5 months but from what I heard, it also depends on who is sponsoring your application. (e.g. Nomura > Tesco Bank). Btw, I am an EU citizen from one of the not so privileged countries (such as Romania and Bulgaria)

I can't help with any info but congrats on the job offer and best of luck with the process.

Thanks a lot ! I just got off a call with the consultant moving things. He said things are bright for now and should go through very soon. I guess when big companies are involved, there is a different pull to the whole process compared to when doing it by yourself. One thing I really dislike in the UK is that everything happens by plain old mail and the mail services here are just poor as hell...
