Would a MSF help with admission into a MFE program?

Hi All,

I was wondering if obtaining a MSF would boost my chances of being admitted into a MFE program? I graduated from a middle of the pack school with a 3.5 in Math/Actuarial but feel as though that may not be enough to admit into a top school for MFE (and it seems only top schools offer this program). However, since I'm currently working as an analyst for a healthcare company full-time I would have to obtain my MS from a regional school.

Would this help/hurt/do nothing to my chances of being admitted later on?

Thanks in advanced

If you think knowledge of financial theory would help your MFE admission chances, CFA/FRM would be a hell of a lot more cost-efficient than MSF.

Thanks for your replies. I'll weigh my options and see what direction I want to go in.

I don't think it's a cost effective strategy to do 1 Msc degree just to get admission into another Msc degree.
waste of time as they will most likely value more your maths courses (thus, your ugrad degree) than they will do with your finance course (my 2 cents). Work experience on the other hand it's something like risk management or anything related to quant finance will show that you already know the deal.
