any chance to get a quant job?

my wife's work atracts me ,she is working in Morgan Stanley asia IT(not quant), and I am a C++ programmer.we often talked about the techniques--use C++ to solve the pricing model,but neither we have much experience in quant domain(her major is CS and mine is telecom/EE), do you think is there any chance for me to get a quant job by self-taught?
at the moment,my wife teachs me the johnhull's book(option,futures,..) and I study "financial instrument pricing using c++ by daniel j duffy"
have to say the math is quite hard for me..I got the BS 9 years ago...

appreciate for your opinons!
 
If you are finding the math very hard, the area may not be for you. However, that is not to say you should give up just because of my opinion.
 
You sounds like a good fit for quant developer roles. You will still need to learn about quant finance by reading books but your programming skills would be of more importance. Try to see what skills are being sought, used in banks (your wife and quant job sites can help) and try to go from there.
Talk to a recruiter who can give you feedback.
 
You'd definitely be a good fit as a financial developer, too. I work at a major investment bank that's probably across the street from your wife if she works in mid-town, and my team is trying to find a C++ developer to help us work on Credit Derivatives and Corporate Bonds.
