Are most Quant jobs pretty boring?

In the majority of Quants' offers, one of the first points of jobs' descriptions is Validation, which seems to be tedious paperwork to me. I'd appreciate your insights based on your experience.

How much do you spend time on such activities as documentation, validation, and report preparation?
