ARPM Quant Marathon

I have attended the ARPM Marathon course which I started in 2019.

The course was spread out across 4 different areas: data science in finance, financial engineering, quantitative portfolio management and quantitative risk management.

The program offers a plethora of sources to access and consolidate knowledge across the modules. There is the online (live) classroom where discussions with lecturers and other participants take place; the video lectures that provide guided overviews of the topics covered during that week; the graded assignments which assess participants’ understanding on various levels (both theoretical and practical). The platform also allows access to the forum where you can post (

and reply to any question and you will have full access to the ARPM Lab. Focusing on the last point (ARPM Lab) it consists of thousands of pages of theory properly organized, accompanied by practical case studies and data animations, but most important thing is that everything is reproducible through the code (predominantly Python based) easily accessible and deeply documented (pseudocode and comments line by line with references to the theory section). It is also possible to create your own Python scripts in Jupyter environment. All these sources are coherent, consistent and linked among each other.

Attilio, his team and the various speakers are really world-class and they offer nuanced and in-depth analysis of all the topics covered in the course, which is permeated by a considerably strong academic emphasis: that offers the opportunity to explore and digest the peculiarities behind each and any section while also providing a solid commercial edge thanks to the high number of practical examples available.

Overall, I highly recommend participating to the ARPM Marathon to anybody keen on a career in quantitative finance or to any finance professional willing to obtain a stronger quantitative knowledge.

Hi everyone,

This is an objective opinion of the ARPM QUANT Marathon Training Course. I vouch that I am in no way at the time of writing this comment, affiliated nor part of the ARPM Team in any way possible.

The course in my opinion;

Finance; one would appreciate the techniques used; they are way better (more quantitative and precise) than the risk-free Q World. The P World brings in true scenario probability along with an in-depth explanation and demonstration of the soundness of its usage and how it is related to Portfolio Management and Statistics’ latest techniques. A lot of the theories are explained through examples and exercises (you get a lot of them in the flipped classrooms and the weekly graded homework too)

Mathematics; is widely used and coherently related to the various phenomena’s that we usually see, know the solution to, but never grasp ‘in full generality’ the inception of the information nor its mathematical logic and explanation. The Marathon never falters to fully delve into the realm of Mathematics tapping onto basic and complex concepts where most Quants and Financial Risk Engineers tend to shy away: Complex Geometry, Machine Learning, PDEs, SDEs, and the likes…

Computation LAB; MATLAB is heavily utilized, which has a different perspective to what we are all used to in terms of the usual Python application, as more theories are applied to express graphically the behaviors of finance phenomena…

The Cost; personally, I think it is quite competitive if you compare it to an MSc in Quantitative Finance or Financial Risk Engineering (not a substitute though to its full cohort), while similar courses out there, don’t even come closer; FRM, CQF, the NYIF (CFRE), …

The Tutors; calling Attilio Meucci a modern Fibonacci, is the least one can say about him. The other teachers are world-class tutors in their own right, and would endeavor to the maximum to answer any questions you may have, in the class and the Q&A Forum;

Sophie King (Math), Angela Loregian (DSFF), Andrea Colombaro (QRM), Doroteja Djoric (DSF), Milena Kojic (ADS), Marcello Colasante (QPM), Attilio Meucci (FEFI)

The Staff; sometimes, if not always, we ignore this key part; they have 2 powerhouse staff elements; Ivana Trifunovic and Zorica Ivanovic. As trivial as it may seem, this duo represents excellent Customer Service in everything related to assisting the student in his quest for the course details and any other aspect when needed (payments, course info, access facilitation, email inquiries, certificate details, exams preparation…)

The Students; GMs, Directors, Quants specialists, Risk Managers, and all sorts of talented students with whom you mingle and believe it or not, learn from as much as from the Tutor in the break-up sessions. Every student has his own approach and forte which adds another special flavor to this dynamic interaction.

Finally; this is not by far a course for the faint-hearted; it is strong, fast, and efficient rather than effective. There is a huge amount of information and minute details, but if treated right, you will never look back again when it comes to Finance!

What kind of background is necessary to succeed in ARPM? It seems as if most of the posters are seasoned quant professionals, yet apparently some of the participants are students. At least ARPM apparently anticipates that some students will participate.

You may find all the people who use lots of words to praise the ARPM project, are completely new users. They registered the account, answer a question about the ARPM project, and never logged in again.
This happened not only in this forum but also in Quora. I used to consider taking their course, but after I realize that they spend so much time creating fake users to boast of their course, I feel disgusting.

Here are some <<detailed>> testimonials fron real students on the QN C++ Course.

It would not be rocket science/neuro-surgery to standardise course review processes.

Good observation. I would feel more comfortable if more of the testimonials were from regular QN participants.
