Reaching out to those who work in finance industry and asking about what kind of career's might exist for someone with excellent C++ skills but not working as a quant per se?

It seems to me that quants are pumping out 70 hour work weeks, which is nothing I would ever do, regardless of the field.

thanks in advance

You could go to a HFT hedge fund as a C++ developer, doing low-latency optimization for automated trading algorithms. Those can be very lucrative for someone with a lot of experience.

Definitely not 70-hour weeks.

Yes that is a good suggestion.

I have been getting information from Matt Godbolt about low latency c++ education.
