Greetings to all,

My name is Ian Cappelletti and I am a representative from the CAIA Association (http://caia.org). CAIA is expanding its outreach efforts in order to better inform financial professionals working with alternative investments.

Since QuantNetwork is a great resource, we know there are people here that are serious about alternatives - as are we. Please use this space to ask whatever questions you may have about the CAIA program and I will be happy to answer them.

Very best!

What kind of person/career does the program target? Are we talking about institutional asset managers, guys who want to start hedge funds, etc??

Thank you for your important question! The CAIA program is tailored to the educational needs of regulators, fund managers, consultants, wealth advisers and all others who manage institutional quality portfolios. It is not intended for people looking to learn how to start a hedge fund.

More information about the areas of study covered in the CAIA program can be found at the FAQ section on our website: CAIA Program FAQ.

Hi all. In case any of you will be attending Family Office/Private Wealth Management Forum this year, come be friendly!

CAIA is proud to announce the association's involvement with and representation at this year's Opal Financial Group's annual Family Office/Private Wealth Management Forum on July 18 to 20. Delegates from the CAIA Association will be in attendance. Of note, CAIA members receive a 15% discount toward conference registration fees.

See more details at CAIA.org.

Hello, Ian. Can you give a list of firms that actually require or carry weight on the distinction?

Great question. Many of our members work for Fortune 500 companies, e.g. Goldman Sachs, and many have cited earning the CAIA designation as the reason behind their promotions to higher level positions, e.g. vice president of alternatives division. We have a few publicly-available statements from such members if you all are interested in seeing them.

Additionally, to appreciate the weight CAIA has at companies, be sure to check out job listings on Indeed, etc. that include several postings asking for applicants with the designation - http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=caia&l= returns some great examples.

If you have any further questions about CAIA's presence in the finance industry, please don't hesitate to ask!
