Can I still get into a quant finance master's program?

Hey everyone

I am senior at a small state school with a major in finance and a minor in mathematics. I love quant finance and would want to apply in the next few years to a master's program? How can I make my resume better? Should I take more courses before applying? Work on projects?

Thanks for the advice in advance. Cheers!

For sure. Someone will let you in. A better question: can you get into one of the BEST QF master's programs? The difference in outcomes is large.

What material did you learn for the math minor?
Can you code? If so, in what languages? At what skill level?
What work experience do you have? Do you have a job lined up post-graduation? What will you be doing?

By the time I will graduate, I will have calc I-III, discrete structures, probability, linear algebra, differential equations
Decent in python and am learning now how to implement in trading models
Currently no job lined up that is quant related

I am considering taking extra math courses that relate more closely to finance after graduation as well... for example stochastic calc for finance. Is this recommended? My goal by the beginning of 2026 is to know enough financial math and programming to take some Baruch pre-MFE courses.
