Hi guys,

new user here. I am incoming student at Cass Business School to study Investment and Financial Risk Mgmt. Here's the course content:
http://www.cass.city.ac.uk/courses/...ancial-risk-management/2014#courses-details=1

My goal is to land on an options desk at a bank, and then make the jump to a HF/prop; given that, I assume I'd need a strong quantitative background. So my question is: will this degree gear me up?

Thanks a lot!

Off hand I'm not seeing anything that indicates this as a strong quantitative degree. The year 2 option of taking "financial mathematics" with no mention of numerical linear algebra or analysis is especially leery.
Also isn't this a degree focused more on the back office?

Thanks for the reply!

Plenty of guys in BB FO S&T from this degree actually.

What worries me is that maybe this degree won't be considered as quantitative so that I may have a good chance on making the jump from an options desk at a BB to a hedge fund/top prop shop.

Bottom line is that Cass is an excellent school and there's no stopping you from taking some math electives and then doing an MFE or quant degree afterwards.
Also you can always switch out of the program if you don't find it to your liking. Best of luck!
