Have an admit for FE at Michigan and MSOR at CU----- any ideas which program better is which one will lead to better placement opportunities

You should look at some of the discussions in this forum regarding CU MSOR and Mich FE.

A general comparison would be some obvious things like MICH MSFE requires 1.5 yrs with 39Credits, while CU MSOR requires 30 Credits and can be competed in 1 yr.

MSFE at UMICH is purely an FE program... CU MSOR can be tailored anyway you want. MSOR only requires 3 or 4 core classes depending on your math skills. The rest are electives from IEOR, Business, Math, Stat, IR, etc.

Career Service... CU MSOR is shrouded in secrecy as far as I know. No one seems to have the real answer and everyone's experience seems different... My conclusion is that its what you make of it. And that can go a looooong way with a CU name.

At U Mich, they posted some stats, but the latest stat is 2007 full time(with low response rate) and 2008 internship at 67%... Look for yourself on their website.

I think you can do well going to either of these institutions. UMich has a top ranking MBA program. It may be helpful to find out if the MBA career services is also open to MSFE guys.

Personally, I'd go to CU MSOR. Flexibility, location, and U Mich just isnt a clear victor in the comparison for me to abandon the Ivy name.

Hope this makes sense.
