I am a fall 2025 applicant. I have the following background from college courses and experiences:
1. C++ programming course which also ventured into object oriented programming (forgotten it a bit though)
2. Python programming course (machine learning)
3. Basics of SQL and databases in a health informatics course
4. An year-long object oriented programming experience in python (coding deep architectures)
5. 5-6 months of back-testing experience in Java in my current role
As for floating point arithmetic, I covered it in another course I did in college, called Numerical analysis. I also did a course called Numerical methods in PDEs which covered finite difference methods in MATLAB.
I know most of the basic programming principles, and object oriented programming concepts in Python (like inheritance). The only problem I have is with C++ object oriented programming, the pointers and the likes. They make me fret a bit for now. How do I solve this? Would you still recommend me to take the course?
