Hi All,

I am a prospective applicant at Baruch MFE Fall 2008.

As an introduction: I graduated with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering in 2003. I started my career with Texas Instruments and am currently working with a major software developer. However I have always been interested in markets and want to switch careers into finance.

I understand from the program website that 15 students were admitted to the program in 2006. I had a question regarding the placement stats for that batch. I assume most of the full time students who started then would be graduating around this time.

I understand that the semester has just finished and the exact numbers may not be available, but ranges and/or average numbers and/or guidance would be great.

1. How many of them have received full time employment so far. I guess this number should be readily available.

2. What has been the typical job profile and/or recruiting departments of the full time students

3. What has been the approximate mean salary for a) the complete batch b) students having no prior work experience (the website says the numbers for last year were 99k and 83k respectively)

Thanks

I expect the stats will be posted on the website by mid-January. We will overhaul the entire webpage in the process.

MFE placement fall 2007

just curious what the MFE placement was like for fall 2007 at Baruch college and their average starting salaries.

Just right on time. The new website is up today
Baruch College Department of Mathematics

1) Well the employment stats looks great. But perhaps with such highs and lows (which in my opinion can qualify as outliers) a median salary figure could also have been provided. Also,I wish the internship stats can be more comprehensive like stating the stipends etc.
2) Any particular reason why only 13 students looked for internships and not everyone?

Median salary - good idea, will try to provide.

13 students looking for summer internships - slightly less than the number of full time students from the Fall 2006 cohort.

median salary

what is the median salary of graduates of the program?

Part time students already have jobs. Only full-time students were looking for internships. And some of the full-time students got job offers instead of internship during the summer. I was one of them so technically we weren't counted among those 13 looking for and got internships ;)
