Hi guys,

I'm currently an engineering PhD (not relevant to finance at all) in a US school. I developed my interests in quant trading when I am doing it at home with my own money. I tried to find a quant job, but even did not get an interview chance.

So I'm thinking to apply for MFE. I bet a relevant degree is necessary to get quant job interviews. However, I never did an internship in financial institutions (bank, fund, etc.). Is this a big obstacle when I apply for MFE? Shall I do a summer internship in relevant fields first?

Thank you. I will appreciate your reply.

what engineering field? how did you try to find a quant job? did you talk to a recruiter?
Thank you for the reply! I'm studying Civil and Environmental Engineering. I did not talk to recruiters when I was looking for a job. I just submitted my resume to the company's online recruiting system.
