I am a finance Ph.D from a top US school, will graduate next year, thinking about career options besides academia. My research is about market microstructure. Because of my research focus, I am thinking about working for exchanges. Do you guys have any opinions about jobs in exchanges? How does it compare to buy side in banks, or asset management firms in terms of pay or work environment? How about exit options for exchanges. Is there any no brainer situation here? Thanks a lot guys!
