Hedge fund fugitive’s girlfriend arrested

In the FT:

US authorities on Thursday arrested Debra Ryan, the girlfriend of missing hedge fund manager Samuel Israel, and charged her with aiding and abetting his failure to surrender to serve a 20-year prison sentence for defrauding investors in his hedge fund out of more than $400m.

Law enforcement officials have been looking for Mr Israel since his car was found on a the Bear Mountain bridge in upstate New York last Monday with the words "suicide is painless" written in dust on its bonnet.

His disappearance came on the day he was due to start serving his 20-year prison sentence.
