I believe they do the research about open roles, and reach out to alumni, etc. But considering the top 10 schools have a similar alumni outreach and you will be doing most of the applications yourselves, is career services something you would really give foremost precedence to while applying to MFE/MFin programs? Would love to hear stories from alumni regarding any exceptional stories about career services in their programs. Thanks all.

There are several assumptions being made here. It would be beneficial to point out that career services are uneven. Some are like having a white glove service, others are more like assembly line with no personalized services. Career services people come and go which cause great disruption.
Some departments will not put any emphasis or investment in career service. They will only train you and rely on the good name of the university to open the doors for you.
It's true that you will need to do most of the work and still need to perform well during interviews.
Given the niche and competitiveness of this field, a great career services will help you navigate this field, give you an inside track and a huge edge.
Most the time, people don't write review about an exceptional services of their program. On the other hands, you will read a lot of complain about bad career services.
There are lot of reviews on the programs pages here that you can read to find out.
I'll not tell you which program has good or bad career service. It's part of the fun process while one doing research. I promise that by the end of your journey here, you will be more informed than most other applicants who didn't start their research here.
