Is Wealth Management worth it as an undergrad?

Hello, I am currently in a Math undergrad and work full time doing credit card support for a large bank. I have the opportunity to move into a wealth management position where I would basically be a subject matter expert for bankers and my company would pay for my SIE, Series 7, and Series 63. Moving into this position would push my graduation date 1 or 2 semesters back since the schedule is not as flexible and so my question is this. Is this worth doing in pursuit of a quant career? I figure working closely with stocks would give me an edge, but from what I understand some firms really just care that you have a quantitative background. Any advice or opinions would be much appreciated!

Hey, I work in a pseudo-wealth management role right now (at a bulge bracket wealth arm). Though I’m not a quant (enrolling in an MFE this year), I’d be happy to chat. Want to PM me?
