I'm currently in Johns Hopkins M.S in Applied Math program through the engineering professionals [EP] program; I have experience in Insurance. I would like to become a quant. What are my chances?

TK, I am not a quant but when I have asked your same question people reply, "What type of Quant?"

I think defining what area of quantitative finance you wish to work will help you determine the skills, education, etc. that are needed, and thus you can make an educated guess as to your chances. I suggest reading through open job postings for the desired and required skills. Also, start reading a few books off the suggested reading List, that may help you understand quant roles and skills. Best of luck!

Thanks I was just worried that maybe I should have done CS masters instead. Just got the Hull book and going through that!

Not sure that you will learn a lot of maths doing CS (if that is a goal that is).
