Hey guys,

I been wondering if I can apply to a quant master program like CMU's CF or Columbia's FE if I only have a minor in Math. My minor does include classes for quant such as DE, numerical analysis, probability and statistics. My majors are Finance and MIS. Does not having a major in Math/Engineering/Physics lower my chance of being admitted?

Thanks.

The minor should be sufficient. As long as you take all the lower division math courses (calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations) & some upper-division courses such as the ones you listed.

Don't forget to study CS. Very important component of your profile.

I got into CMU with a CS major and a math minor, for the record. I had Calculus up to multivariate, linear algebra, probability, statistics, and combinatorics. Didn't take diff eq.
