Is both the courses so similar? I mean from what I came to know from Internet, MRES is research oriented. Mainly focused for those who want to go for PhD.

I don't know what MRes means or what the added value is. A third option is jump into PhD programme after BA/BSc?

I'm not an academic but it seems that MRes is not well-known. It would not be my first choice
