Hello everyone,
I am currently a fourth year Physics and Math student at UBC in Canada. I have recently grown interest in financial engineering and I am aspiring to enter a MFE program next year. Although I am in my fourth year, I still have one more school year left, and I am planning to take the GRE during this summer. The biggest problem I see in my future application is my marks. I recieved a B+ gpa for my third year and I hope to do better for my last year (I will try to get all A's or die trying). My other merits include an NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award (hopefully another one for this summer) and a publication in a well-known Physics journal (although I am the second author). I have worked 8 months at a research group at UBC, and 8 months as an reserach and development specialist at a biomedical company. Hopefully (probably?), I will get good recommendation letters from the Prof's that I have worked for before.
I have visited all the reputable schools' websites and have read about their programs but it is hard for me to grasp which schools I should aim for. Obviously, I wouldn't want to apply for a school of extremely high caliber like Princeton. Realistically speaking, which schools would you guys recommend? I am planning to apply to 2 schools which are probably too good for me, and 3 schools that I hopefully will have a decent chance.
If you have any suggestions on how I could improve my chances, please enlighten me.
