In due time, I would like to get into options trading. The problem is would this require a MFE (or similar) degree or not? I looked into ads for the career and half of them said they want math skills and vice versa. I would also want to do Algo trading as well. Also, for the occupations that i had mentioned, what type of finance program should I look at? I heard there were some but minor differences between financial engineering, financial mathematics and so on. Thank you in advance.

From a couple guys I know who looked at moving into trading careers, it seemed that there was little requirement for them to have an MFE or similar. They talked about the various applicants coming from a variety of fields (basically anyting >= a bachelor degree in arts), as long as you had a good head for numbers and were a quick thinker.

Algo trading, on the other hand, would appear from what i read to be highly dependant on things like a) programming, and b) understanding of signal processing and possibly probability etc.

So to me, being a "trader" working on the floor, seems quite different from being an algo trader. I could be very wrong of course... I have no personal experience in either field.
