Hi ,

I wanted to apply for MFE programs for the Fall 2014 . I am intrested in programs which have inclination towards computing and math/statistics side mainly as I do not have degree experience in core Finance side .

I have a Bachelor in Technology Computer science Degree from one of the top 15 Colleges in India with a cumulative GPA of 8./10 . I have a 2 years experience in a multinational Company working for a client Commercial Finance Project .

As I am taking my first steps in the field of Finance , I have started to take online prep courses in Quantitative Finance , Computational Investing , Financial Engineering Courses . Also I have started to prepare for Certification Exams for NSE(India) for Currency Derivatives , Equity Derivatives , Securities Market etc .
Although I have keen interest mainly in Math/Statistics and Computing , I did not manage to get great grades in Statistics and probablity .
From computing Point of view , I am quite comfortable in any technologies required with Degree project expierence(C,C++,Java,Python,.Net,R,VBA)

My GRE scores are 800(166) , 480(152) , 3.0 in quant , verbal and writing respectively

1)So from technical point of view would MFE programs be better suited for me or others (Mfin) . Can you please confirm this to me ?
2)What courses / certifications / exams shall I appear for - in point of view of applications ? Also would CFA be necessary or I could do without it ?
3)Also considering my profile what would be the programs which would be suitable for me to apply for ?

If you are interested in the programming/math aspect of the field, then MFE is definitely more appropriate vis-a-vis MFin.
You should also look at MS Stats programs as that may open more options for you outside of finance.

Thanks Andy .. also I wanted to ask considering my profile which programs (universities) will be appropriate for me to apply for MFE in terms of getting admits . Its a little difficult to know the complete profile from the "Tracker" although I can see the scores .

Thanks Andy ... but according to you what would be the apt programs(universities) for my profile
