Hi friends,

I will be applying to MFE programs in the next year, and want to get a head start and pinpoint weaknesses in my application.

Major: Bachelors in Electrical and electronics engineering from one of the reputed institutes in India

Minor: Finance

GPA: ~3.5 cumulative

GRE: not yet taken - aiming for - 165 quant, 150 verbal,

IELTS: aiming for 7.5-8

Work Experience: Interned for 5 months at a top Financial Services firm. Currently working in Traded risk department of a big holdings bank. will be having ~1 Year experience by the time I apply, and 2 years by the time I join the course.

Status: Indian citizen

Relevant Coursework (college curriculum): statistics, calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, derivatives, financial risk analytics, portfolio management, economics principles.
(courses outside): econometrics, numerical analysis, bayesian statistics.

Tech Stack:
Fluent in C, Python, SQL, Tableau, Excel, Some Java

Programs:
- UMN
- FSU

I have excluded many programs owing to their fee, course duration, etc. Any suggestions to apply for are helpful.

Thanks a lot!

In my opinion your profile is decent, although you may have to write really good personal statements/cover letters to compete with applicants with higher GPAs.

What are the names of the roles you had/have in these firms?

Hi. Thanks for the review. I worked as analyst equity derivatives structuring team in my intern time. I'm currently working as an assistant manager.

Thanks again for those inputs! I'll definitely work on my profile, and letters optimization!
