Hi everyone,
I'd really appreciate your input (and any possible advice you may have) about my current position.
A brief rundown: I graduated from a tier-2 American university (a UC) in 2010 with an honors degree in Mathematics and a cumulative GPA of 3.78. My GMAT score is 770 and my GRE scores are 166Q/166V/4.0 essay. Since graduation I've been working as a financial analyst in a SE Asia branch of an Australian company -- not particularly prestigious but it's given me a fairly solid grounding in financial/economic principles I hadn't learned as an undergrad. I wrote programs in Matlab for computational neuroscience research projects as an undergrad so I have a little knowledge of programming, although I might enroll in a programming course before my MFE program starts (assuming I'd get into any MFE programs, that is).
I think I might be qualified enough to get into some programs, at any rate. One glaring issue on my transcript, though, is that I received an 'F' in the numerical analysis course I took. There's a long-winded explanation for said grade (that I doubt anyone wants to hear), but either way it's still there. My question is, does that grade completely ruin any chance I might have at securing a place in an MFE program? Would you recommend that I wait another year before applying just to take this course again, or would that be a waste of time? (For that matter I'd have to return to the states to take this course because local colleges here don't allow foreigners to take classes part time). Input would be really helpful (and maybe advice about which schools would be a reasonable ballpark for me).
Thanks very much!
