Yes, if you get permission from both us and the department offering the course. The latter is usually the bigger challenge because there are limited spaces available.

What weight is given to the GRE while evaluating candidacy?

Since we don't make decisions based on fixed numerical weights, I don't have a simple answer to this. It is possible for a weakness in one aspect of the application to be compensated by a strength in another. I encourage you to apply. There's nothing to lose (except the application fee).
