R : Is learning R any useful to break into finance?

I am planning to teach myself R as well. Do you guys think that this will be useful to sell myself into quant finance/trading.

You have enough credentials IMO and if you can walk into an interview talking about how you performed analysis on rocket engines then you should be ok. So go network your ass off kid.
