I would like to get an idea of my profile strength with respect to the Berkeley MFE program.

Undergrad: Berkeley EECS, GPA 3.0
GMAT: Verbal=68%, Quant.=83%, Total=660

Work experience:
software engineer, 8 years, been in algorithmic trading/hedge fund IT for the last 3 years. Not dealing with trading directly but heavy exposure to trading operation as well as strategies.

Recommender credentials:
one MD from a major IB, one development manager at major algo. trading vendor, + various colleagues.

I figure my GPA is probably the weakest link. I've been told that my application would be dumped at first glance because of this....I just wonder if other aspects are strong enough to make up for it. Unfortunately I don't know anyone from Haas so can't really get an idea. Please advise, especially those who have been accepted. Thanks alot

Your GMAT Quant score is also not upto the mark. You should re-take the GMAT,

hey - your GPA is low for sure but that just means you will need to make up for it in other areas.

You will need to push your GRE to be perfect in math. UCB MFE is getting more competitive so a higher verbal is probably also a good idea.

You work experience is ideal. Your undergrad was eecs at berkeley - no easy field.

go to an info session - give them your profile and ask them what you should do to improve your chances.
