The Prospect for Quant as a Ph.D. in Transportation

I will be a Ph.D. in transportation this coming fall in the US. I currently hold a B.E. in EE, a B.S. in Maths (minor). I will be primarily working on modeling that requires a lot of statistics, optimization and programming.

I am wondering about the prospect of being a Quant after my graduation. Will it be helpful if I take a minor in math, economics, or statistics?
