So I got "Waitlist with Guarantee" which means waitlist for this year and guaranteed place in the 2016-2017 year. I never knew this was an option, but very happy none-the-less. I'm not sure what I should say for the tracker though

Just noticed, somebody in Tracker updated the status with "guaranteed admission for 2016-17". Is this specific to UCB MFE or other schools do this as well?

I think I am the "somebody" that was guaranteed admission for 2016-17, so anyone of you guys besides Jonoh gets the same result now?

i think it just means you will be admitted to the 16-17 program iif you complete their conditions. actually i'm a first-year graduate student so i don't have problem with the gap year

1. Retake GRE/GMAT and raise your Analytical Writing Score to 70th percentile or higher
2. Retake GRE/GMAT and raise your Verbal Score to 70th percentile or higher
3. Read the Crack (Heard...), Hull (Options...), Zhou (A Practical...), Brealey (Principles...), and Jones (Macroeconomics) texts and the WSJ weekly.
4. Successfully complete all of the preprogram courses offered by our department in January. "Successful completion" is a B grade or higher.
5. Prepare for and take the CFA Level 1 Exam.
6. Successfully complete coursework in Corporate Finance at any accredited institution. "Successful completion" is a B grade or higher.
7. Successfully complete coursework in Macroeconomics at any accredited institution. "Successful completion" is a B grade or higher.
8. Successfully complete coursework in Advanced Statistics at any accredited institution.
9. Successfully complete coursework in Partial Differential Equations at any accredited institution. "Successful completion" is a B grade or higher.
10. Successfully complete coursework in Matlab, Python, and R at any accredited institution. "Successful completion" is a B grade or higher.

anybody knows where to take the online graded courses? i searched on coursera and edx and found no courses about PDE and numerical analysis...

I think this is applicant-specific. A waitlist with guaranteed placement option might better than vanilla waitlist, which according to someone in Tracker is "UCB way of reject" if there is no other considerations except time. However, it might not be the case for someone who is desperately looking for a career switch and/or have offers from other schools.

I haven't had any interviews, they have said I will have one at the end of January, if I have completed all the items or if have all the items in progress.

On Course Era you can search for those classes and they will notify you when they are being provided…?

Yeah, that is my understanding, assuming Hold>Waitlist.
