UCB MFE UCB MFE Admission Results Discussion

I have not decided yet. The fee for these pre-program courses is quite high, considering that doing these courses dont guarantee admission for a waitlisted candidate.

The admission office said the Numerical Analysis course is available on Coursera. I haven't been able to find it yet though.

So were aloud to take Coursera classes and they count as prerequisites even though they are not accredited classes?

If so, you just made my day, aha.

Okay I'll have a try, but do you know any other online course providers?

Yes, Edx is also another good one, i've taken a course on there. Check it out.

You can also see if your local community college offers the class online, that way your getting the course as credit with an official transcript for less than half the price as at an universities' online course.

Received waitlist with guranteed admission for 2016 Spring! But I have requirements to follow (so it's not 'guranteed' afterall, right?)

This uh, is a little ridiculous, init? Waitlist with guaranteed admission if conditions are met?

Hey Evan

A little confusing. In the email they sent me, they said I could take it on Coursera. However, after a phone call with them last night, it looks like they suggest the course through Columbia Video Network. So I'd go with the latter.

Hi Jonoh, I asked Linda last night if we can take those "graded courses" on MIT OCW, and surprisingly she said yes, so could it be that they don't actually have strict requirements on the result of courses, or just that she made a mistake? The CVN costs over $5000 for one course and it's a little too expensive...

Hey Hacose. I would go with them not having such strict requirements. Thanks for the heads up. I definitely want to save that kind of cash.

Okay, thanks Jonoh. It seems they are wanting courses that provide credit then, not to mention its cash in their hands. Thanks again for the heads-up.

this thread has gone really silent!
any updates, people? has anyone from hold or waitlist received an acceptance? i think some conversions should have happened given that the results came out 45 days back or so.

Does anyone know if interview invites for Round One of UCB MFE 2016 have all been sent? I know a few people have already been admitted... So, is Round 1 over? Also, I noticed that there are very few applications in the tracker for the program...
