Honestly networking has never been my strong suit, but particularly in quant finance where it seems people are a bit more snappy, to the point and less willing to have small talk, what are you even to do? Should I be just cold messaging some people, asking them about their career and hoping I can leave a good impression? Should I be more direct and open about how to work for their firm or in their role? How does this convert to job opportunities in the end? Should I be targeting seniors, mid-level or juniors? I'm genuinely clueless when it comes to this sort of thing.
