Lets say that I couldn't get a quant internship this summer. What do you think would be the next best plan.

Algorithm Development Internship? Math Research with Prof? Machine Learning/Data Science Internship/Research?

I think I got a good chance at a research internship at a biology institution, where I'll work with C++, MATLAB, and ML. If I emphasize my Machine Learning experience instead of the biology aspect in my resume, do you think this help me get a quant internship next year? Or should I cold-email professors to get a math research opportunity over the summer to help me instead?
