A lot of people are applying for the 2021-22 academic year to the MFin/MFE programs in the US. My question is, will the classes for the next academic year be done online, or do people expect it to become in person by August 2021?

The MIT MFin had substantial in-person components (core classes) this semester, and will continue to do so for Spring 2021.

CMU are online / in person, but the program has always had a strong online component w professors shuttling back and forth between Pittsburgh and NY.

I’m getting a lot out of the program. It does take more discipline to tune out everything else, and I miss seeing my classmates in person. That said, office hours and tutoring help are working much better online than I thought.

maybe consider the fact that if you do go now, when enrollments are likely to be lower, you’ll be more competitive in recruiting (assuming the entire industry doesn’t collapse)

Online isn't as bad as I expected it'd be, and having zoom recording for every single lecture and consultation hours for review is convenient. However I think there's a good chance that we'd see more in-person components in the Fall of the coming year (and even more so in 2022) with the vaccine and whatnot (at least I hope so).

I think Spring will most likely remain mostly online though. It'll take time to test the vaccines and distribute them to a big enough portion of the population.
