I hope you are well. I see you are busy...glad for that...nonetheless, are you available for crash course in binomial trees? Say an hour or so, on me? Prepping for a job interview. I don't think we ever covered this in 9814.

If not, I understand, & best wishes anyway.

Hey Anthony, I started a conversation with you because I couldn't fit it here, can you please check and give me some advices? Thanks very much.
Hi Andy,
Could you please read the message in the conversation I started with you? Really appreciate your advice. Thanks in advance.
Hi Ritwik,
I see you were from Delhi University. Did you end up securing admission in an MFE Program in the United States?
I could use your guidance, since I'm sending out applications for the 2015 session really soon.
Hi,

You had made a very insightful post on the Princeton Mfin admission process some months back. Are there any other colleges having similar coursework to the Princeton MFin in the top 20? That is covering the stochal and econometrics but at the same time offering exposure to skills that could open doors at IBD/Consulting/Hedge Funds?

Thanks :)

Hi Grasin. Columbia is also a great program that would give you the same opportunities. You could also steer an M7 MBA fairly quantitative at MIT, UChicago or maybe Wharton.
hello i need an adive,
first what do you think of the CQF? is it good?
my plan is to do the CQF then apply to an MSFE, is this a good plan? i know that they both revolve around the same material, but i think the CQF will help me be from the best of the class in the MSFE.
another question, Baruch or Columbia? which has a better program

Don't do an online program.

I'd consider a cqf only if you have taken no preparatory material an an undergrad.

What country are you in?

Do you mean that its better to do some self study preparations and then go for a masters in financial engineering? without the cqf and the pre masters online curses?
Hi. do you happen to have any sample questions on R and MATLAB programming asked at the interviews? I would appreciate it if you let me know.
Professor Abbott, is it possible for someone with a data science degree to break into risk management? Thank you very much!
Hi Andy,
Can you please help choose between Rutgers FSRM and SUNY Buffalo's MS Quantitative Finance?
Which would be better in terms of getting a job and curriculum?
Hello, I saw you got accepted to the MSFM in Singapore. I also got accepted and will be attending. I have a couple questions on the program. Do you know if they have good placement rates in singapore itself?
Hi Andy, I would really appreciate some of your advice. I am about to graduate with a B.S. in Physics from smaller midwest university, and I really want to work in quantitative finance in Chicago. Based on your knowledge and expertise, would you say that I should get a M.S. in quant finance, or would I be able to find work in Chicago with my degree and experience in math an programming. Thank you in advance!
Hello Yike, I noticed on one of your posts, you said that you have a B.S. in physics. I am about to graduate with a B.S. in physics, and I am curious to know what you did or where you are now. I would like to work in Chicago in some soft of quantitative role, with programming and mathematical analysis. Do you think I need a M.S. in Quantitative Finance in order to find work? In other words, am I hirable? Thanks!

You should be able to answer algorithms and data structures questions. You can showcase work by working on open source projects and posting the work in github. You need to have experience working with big data sets (>100MB, pref >10 GB). The physics degree says you're smart, the CS stuff says whether or not you'll drown on the job.

Thanks for your info- very helpful. I'm wondering what specific applications I should know how to use while working with large data sets. Given your experience, should I try my luck looking for jobs or internships now, or wait until I learn more from my own time?

You need to be able to write custom code to handle big data processing. There may be pre-built applications, but those usually cost money and aren't portable, or flexible.

You should look now. Take a few interviews and see what people ask you; adapt your studying to what they ask.
HI Andy!!!
I got admitted to NCU Financial mathematics and Stevens Financial Engineering.
I am confused to chosse between the two.
Could you give me some insight about both the programs, coursework, faculty, inetrnships and placements from your perspective?
