Hi, for some background, I am finishing my undergrad in Theoretical Physics next year from a top 10 UK university, and I'm looking for potential postgrad pathways that could take me into quantitative research.
I'm currently looking at what masters programs to do. So far, the ones that have caught my interest are Oxford OMMS, Cambridge Part III (Theor. Physics) and Imperial Applied Maths (Should any of these courses be avoided?)

I've also seen some that are a lot more aligned with Finance, such as Oxford's and Imperial's respective mathfin courses, however they are very expensive (about 1.5-2x the cost of a traditional STEM masters). My main question is are these courses worth the cost, in comparison to the others?

Lastly, since I'm quite interested in quant research, should I be aiming for a PhD as well? or is it the same difficulty to get into quant research roles with a Masters?

Thank you for your time!

You can do the Part III and/or do a PhD. That would be the proper path for QR role.
Imperial and Oxford MCF are established players in the UK market so they have a pipeline and connection with employers. You will have an easier time getting into the industry but you will pay for the higher cost.
We have a recent note on Part III program recently and several reviews for the other programs. You should take a look and see what's best.
