I heard that lots of quantitative trading firms hire Ph.Ds from quantitative fields such as math, physics, and engineering. I was wondering if a Bioengineering Ph.D. allowed for a transition to a quant trading career (essentially whether this particular field of engineering is considered "quantitative" enough compared to say E.E.). If I need to, would adding an M.Fe. help? Or is it not necessary?

It's not needed at all to get the interviews. Present yourself well, in person and on resume, and spend the time instead on being sharp on technical interview questions and doing side projects on software.

As you have done Bioengineering Ph.D it will be a little exhaustive in the beginning because quantitative trading requires a huge amount of calculations, but once you pick that pace it will surely be easy.
