Columbia University - MA in Mathematics of Finance

Columbia MAFN Columbia MAFN decisions...

Does that mean that applicants not on the WL so far, are less likely to receive an offer?

And that only a small % of offers have been sent to date?
It is not appropriate for me to discuss our recruiting strategy. I will say that being on the waitlist is not a bad thing. Offers come both from the waitlist and applicants that are not on a waitlist.

Does the admissions review applications in the order of time when the application is submitted?

No, absolutely not true. More offers are coming and also - being moved to a waitlist is a good sign. Please remember that our deadline is in May.
Since the deadline is in May, does that mean that all applications submitted so far are being considered (have a chance) for admission?

I just received an email to be placed onto the waitlist. Anyone know what is the chance of getting off the waitlist?

Is there a cut off date where we know all offers are out? As it’s entering April..

And will we expect new batches of offers next week?

+1. have applications submitted in late Feb/March been considered? Seems like the offers so far are from Jan applicants….

Thank you @IzabelaRutkowski for actively engaging on the forums so far to know of the latest updates.

We most likely will continue sending offers until mid-June.
Would that be enough time for international students to process their visa applications?

And, most programs have a deposit deadline in late March to early April. While the MAFN program is a competitive option for students pursuing quant finance, some will have paid their deposit for other programs well before they receive an offer due to uncertainty of whether they eventually get in.

Those are all valid points. Thank you for bringing them up. This year's admission cycle is already set but while trying to make the decisions sooner, we will have to release some of them later, once we receive all the applications. We will consider your points for next year. Thank you.

I am holding admission info session tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET for anyone who has questions about the program.
