Hello everybody,

I am in the process of applying to Baruch. I am from India and I want to know if GPA conversion method given on the following link is the correct method. My undergraduate score was on percentage scale. -- GPA in India - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My graduate grading was on 9.0 point scale. So, is it correct to say that GPA = 6.84 (on 9.0 point scale) = 76% (6.84/9.0) = 3.8 (on 4.0 point scale)?

Thanks,
Priyanka

I think we went through this once. Search the posts. I'm sure you will find the information somewhere in this forum.

That wouldn't make much sense at all. Assuming your grades are distributed like they would be in a 4 point scale. ie 0 F 2.25 D 4.5 C 6.75 B 9 A. Then

6.84/9.0=x/4 => x=3.04.

A 3.8 Is an A/A- Average.

Different colleges have different grade scales. Some use A+, some don't. Converting Indian grade into US GPA is a useless exercise in a sense that whatever magic formula you use to come up with a nice round GPA, it pretty much will be ignored by the admission people. You do it cause it was the only format acceptable. They will just use your original grades to evaluate instead. They are getting so good that they can tell what is a very good grade at IITs.

We may just tell the people who design the online application system to have an option to use a different grading scale instead of US GPA system.
